A meeting between the Barisan Nasional (BN) Supreme Council and its members of parliament (MPs) at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) has now concluded with a decision on forming a government

According to Free Malaysia Today, the matter was confirmed by MCA secretary-general Chong Sin Woon at Menara Dato Onn, who was present at the meeting with the top BN leadership today, 22 November.

"We had a good discussion. No signing of statutory declarations yet. Let the BN secretary-general issue a statement," he was quoted as saying by the portal.

Meanwhile, MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong dodged questions when approached by reporters before getting into his car

He simply replied that BN will make an announcement soon.

Similarly, MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M Saravanan said that he has his own choice on who should be the country's next prime minister and lead the new government.

However, the final decision depends on the BN leadership on whether it should be Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim or Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"I have my own personal choice, but we have to look at the party's decision. Even though I have my own choice, we still need to toe the line and follow the party's choice," he told reporters at WTCKL.

The 15th General Election (GE15) has resulted in a hung parliament

While PH won the highest number of seats at 82, and PN came in second with 73 seats, BN β€” despite suffering its worst-ever defeat in elections β€” has become the "kingmaker" due to its 30 seats.

Both PH and PN need the support of parliamentarians from other parties to have a simple majority of 112 seats or more to form the next government. Neither of them can form a government without BN.

The MPs have until 2pm today before Agong's deadline runs out:
