A man was murdered in broad daylight in Cheras, Selangor on Monday, 2 August

The shocking episode happened in the late evening opposite an apartment building in Taman Taragon Puteri, Batu 9, Cheras and was caught on camera by onlookers.

In a widely shared clip on Facebook, at least two men are seen assaulting the victim while he is being shielded by an unidentified woman.

Amid her audible pleas, the attackers unsuccessfully try to pry her off, and then continue to deliver kicks to the man lying on the road.

The intervention of a nearby security guard also proved fruitless, as they continue their assault unabated.

In a second accompanying clip, the assailants were seen trying to carry the victim into a pick-up truck to no avail

The men attempted to carry the victim into an orange Ford pick-up which was believed to have been used to ferry them to the scene of the crime.

However, this too proved in vain, as the victim managed to repeatedly struggle free from their clutches, despite sustaining severe injuries.

At this point, the driver of the truck gestures to the recording onlooker, and it is inferred that the perpetrators fled the scene shortly after, leaving the victim for dead.

According to the Kajang district police, five male suspects have been arrested to assist in investigations

In a statement released on Facebook, the police said they received a call regarding the incident at 6.45pm the same day.

After arriving at the site, they found the victim's body lying prone on the side of the road covered in blood. Paramedics declared him dead on the scene.

Their preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased died of blunt force trauma from bricks and multiple stab wounds.
