A motorcyclist was killed after an SUV lost control in heavy rain and crashed into two motorcycles whose riders were sheltering under a flyover along the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) in Kuala Lumpur

The fatal accident happened at about 4.40pm yesterday, 25 June, on the stretch of highway from Setiawangsa heading towards Sungai Besi, reported Malaysia Gazette.

According to Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, preliminary investigations found that a 21-year-old local woman driving a Proton X50 is believed to have lost control of her vehicle during heavy rain.

The SUV allegedly veered onto the left shoulder before crashing into two motorcycles parked under the flyover as their riders sought shelter from the downpour.

The impact threw one of the motorcyclists, a 31-year-old local man, about 30m off the flyover.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
