All recreational activities in Selangor's forest parks and reserves are to be temporarily halted from 15 November 2024 to 31 January 2025

This decision, announced by the Selangor State Forestry Department, is due to the Northeast Monsoon, which brings heavy rain and potential flooding.

The closure is to keep visitors safe during this risky period.

The closure applies to several popular spots, including:

  • Gunung Nuang
  • Sungai Tekala
  • Taman Rimba Komanwel
  • Sungai Tua
  • Sungai Sendat

The Northeast Monsoon, which started on 5 November 2024, is expected to last until March 2025, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department

Heavy rains are common during this time, especially on the East Coast, but Selangor can still experience flash floods and slippery conditions in forest areas.

The Forestry Department asks everyone to follow the closure notice and avoid visiting these parks until they reopen. This ensures recreational activities can continue safely once the weather improves.

Stay safe, and plan your outdoor adventures for after the monsoon season!
