Recently, allegations that a 37-year-old married teacher in Selangor has been grooming a schoolboy, 17, went viral on social media

The now-deleted allegations were made by the student's family members, who uploaded screenshots of sexually suggestive text messages that were said to be between the teacher and the student.

According to the family members, they were forced to bring attention to the issue via social media as the teacher allegedly continued to groom and meet up with the student, despite the multiple reports filed against her with the police and the education ministry in December last year.

The family also alleged that the teacher has five kids but is ruining the victim's life.

Police have confirmed that the victim's mother lodged a report on 12 December last year, after he came home with love bites on his neck

Sepang district police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, in a statement yesterday, 24 March, stated that the victim, aged 16 at the time, alleged that the mathematics teacher had hugged and kissed him.

The teacher and the victim were allegedly in the school library when she sexually molested him.

"Our investigation revealed that the incident occurred at around 4.50pm on the same day, 12 December, the report was lodged," he said, adding that the victim was later taken to a hospital for a checkup.

According to Wan Kamarul, the case is being investigated under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which covers physical sexual assault on a child.

The offence is punishable with a jail term not exceeding 20 years and whipping.

Meanwhile, Bukit Aman Sexual, Women, and Child Investigations Division (D11) principal assistant director Siti Kamsiah Hassan said the investigation paper would be referred to the deputy public prosecutor.

The victim's family alleged that while the teacher was transferred to another school, it did not stop her from meeting with the student

According to a video sighted by SAYS, the duo were filmed hanging out on a beach.

"After the teacher was transferred, she still insisted on taking a 40-minute drive to meet the victim," Malaysiakini quoted a family representative as saying yesterday, 24 March.

Meanwhile, the New Straits Times reported that the victim's mother received a call from the Education Ministry for them to meet and discuss the case.

"The incident took place some time ago. I thought the teacher had repented. However, I thought wrong when I found out she was still in contact with my son. After the case went viral, I was contacted by the (Education) Minister to set up a meeting to discuss the case. I will inform her of all the facts," she said.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said that the ministry has taken action against the teacher in accordance with existing guidelines

She, however, did not specify what actions were taken against the teacher.

"The ministry has looked into the case and action has been taken per existing guidelines. The ministry is also ready to fully cooperate with the investigation being conducted by the authorities," she said.
