Watch This Frontliner Son Surprise His Mum After Being Separated For 9 Months
"I tried to be a man and not cry, but the tears fell anyway."
A policeman who was separated from his family for over nine months has finally been reunited with his mother
The precious moment was captured on video and uploaded by Facebook page Friends of PDRM.
The page shared that the young policeman was away from home for academy training for six months when the Movement Control Order (MCO) was suddenly announced in March.
Staying put to carry out his duties as a frontliner, he finally made it back home after an additional three-month wait to see his family.
In the two-minute video, the young cop decided to head straight to his mother's nasi lemak stall to surprise her
A friend helped record the heartwarming moment and distracted his unsuspecting mother by first buying a packet of nasi lemak from her.
Wearing a mask, the young man cheekily called his mum 'mak cik' from the other end of the stall and it took her a few good moments to register the familiar face.
As soon as she recognised him, she burst into tears, and he quickly ran over laughing to give her a bear hug.
The short yet sweet video has quickly gone viral, garnering over 1.3 million views and almost 3,300 shares since it was posted three days ago
Malaysians were moved to tears by the reunion and it made everyone miss their own parents, especially those who lived away and could not go home due to the MCO.
"I tried to be a man and not cry, but the tears fell anyway. I love my mum to the end of the world," commented a Facebook user.
"Even though it's just a video someone else showed me, it made me cry manly tears. I haven't had the chance to see and kiss my mother's hands and forehead after MCO because I'm still on duty," cried another user.
Whereas, this netizen gratefully said, "Behind the success of our country's battle against the COVID-19 pandemic are the sacrifices these heroes have made. Thank you, hero of Malaysia."
