[REVIEW] The DJI Air 3 Boasts Impressive Dual Primary Cameras And 46-Minute Flight Time
The Air 3 sits neatly between the Mini 3 Pro and Mavic 3 Pro, with an attractive price.
It's only been over two years since the launch of its predecessor, the DJI Air 2S, but the all-new DJI Air 3 comes with some major upgrades
A first for the Air series, the Air 3 features a dual primary camera system with a 24mm wide-angle camera and a 70mm medium telephoto camera. Its impressive 46-minute flight time means you'll get to shoot for longer periods without having to worry about calling back your drone.
The DJI Air 3's dual primary cameras are a game-changer for drone photography and videography
The 24mm wide-angle camera is great for capturing sweeping landscapes, while the 70mm medium telephoto camera provides a unique perspective that can be used to create stunning close-up shots.
The 70mm medium telephoto camera is particularly impressive. Because each camera has individual sensors, they work together seamlessly to deliver stunning images and videos with little to no degradation in image quality.
Besides that, the DJI Air 3 is the first in its series to feature omnidirectional obstacle sensing. This means that the drone can detect obstacles in all directions, which makes it much safer to fly.
The obstacle sensing system works in conjunction with the FocusTrack feature, which keeps your subjects in the center of the frame, so you can get amazing shots without having to worry about crashing.
The DJI Air 3 has all of DJI's most popular features, including Active Track, Master Shots, Quickshots, and Timelapse. These features work on both of the Air 3's cameras.
Featuring a battery life of up to 46 minutes, the DJI Air 3 marks a significant improvement from its predecessor's battery life of 34 minutes
In real-world use, while shooting video at 4K/24fps, we managed to achieve flight times of around 35 minutes. This will vary depending on whether you’re taking photos or videos, as well as weather conditions at the time. If you are flying in windy conditions, the battery won’t last as long.
As mentioned before, If you purchase the Fly More Combo package, you’ll get two extra batteries and a charging hub. Each battery pack takes roughly an hour to fully charge with the charging hub, for a total of around three hours.
All in all, we found the DJI Air 3 to be a versatile drone that sits neatly between the Mini 3 Pro and Mavic 3 Pro in terms of price, features, and performance
It is a good choice for photographers and videographers who want a drone with more capabilities than the Mini 3 Pro, but don't need all of the features of the Mavic 3 Pro.
