12-Year-Old Boy In Kedah Dies Of Strangulation While Playing With Siblings
He was supposed to sit for his UPSR the next day.
A Year Six student was found dead in his home in Kedah a day before he was supposed to sit for his UPSR exam
Harian Metro reported that the 12-year-old boy was hanging from a double-decker bed in his room at Taman Nenas, Kulim, Kedah.
According to District police chief Superintendent Mohd Yusuf Shaari, the incident took place at about 6.30pm on Tuesday, 3 August.
Prior to the incident, the victim was playing with his sister and elder brother in one of the rooms while his mother was in the living room
"About 15 minutes later, the sister ran to her mother and told her that the victim was hanging from the double-decker bed," Shaari said in a statement issued by Harian Metro.
When his mother rushed into the room, the victim was already lying on the bed after his 14-year-old brother cut off the white shoe string strangling his neck.
Police have determined that no foul play was involved in the incident and the case has been classified as sudden death
"According to the victim's mother, he was a very active and cheerful boy. He has also been more attached to her lately," Shaari said as reported by Kosmo Online.
He added that the victim's body has been sent Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Alor Setar for post-mortem.
