Lorry Driver Carries School Kid Across Muddy Road To Keep Her Uniform Clean
In a report on the incident, the child was on her way to school.
If there's one certainty every person is guaranteed in this lifetime, it's that we can't make it through without depending on each other's humanity
A recent Instagram video has been going viral after displaying such an instance of compassion between a lorry driver and a school-going child.
In the video that was uploaded to the page of an Indonesian news outlet, Fakta Indo, a man can be seen giving a small girl, dressed in her school uniform, a piggyback across an extremely muddy road.
Walking along the road that's littered with puddles and dirt, the man's boots can be seen sinking slightly with each step he takes to bring the small girl to the other side of the road. Other children can also be seen in the background of the video, waiting to be helped as well.
Receiving an immense amount of praise, the comments section lit up for the driver doing the right thing by helping the young child.
The caption of the post revealed that the road, which is located in the North Labuan Batu Regency in the North Sumatran Province, has been badly damaged for years
Furthermore, it was also stated that the road is used by students who walk to school.
Not being able to bear the sight of the children struggling, several car and motorcycle drivers took the initiative to help by carrying the children through the muddy puddles in order to prevent their shoes and uniforms from getting dirty before the school day even began.
The video also displayed the difficulty faced by several cars when passing through the road, as they had to stop momentarily. Other vehicles can be seen sunk in the mud, even tilting slightly due to the uneven ground.
As an act of protest aimed at gaining the attention of the North Sumatran government, the residents reportedly planted 1,000 trees along the severely damaged road
According to Indonesian news provider, Tribun News, a viral TikToker who discussed why he felt the area was not improving gained traction online, thereby prompting the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, to inspect the surroundings.
"Road infrastructure is important to support the basic mobility of people and goods," the president wrote in a tweet.
Following that, the leader also requested that districts across the country send videos of their degrading facilities to his Twitter account. Among some of the videos shared included the road in North Labuhan Batu.
